Nora Barrett Burke, 80, of West Pittston, passed away at home Monday September 21, 2020.

Nora was the daughter of Robert and Margaret Barrett. Born and raised in West Pittston, she was a graduate of Saint John the Evangelist High School class of 1957. Nora earned her BS in Education from College Misericordia and Masters Equivalency from Penn State University. She taught in the Wyoming Area School District for 37 years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings Jane and Robert Barrett. She was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.

Nora is survived by William Burke, her husband of 57 years, brother Richard Barrett and his wife Margaret, Rockville, MD, son William and wife Maripat, Scranton, son Patrick and wife Anne, Leesburg, VA, daughter Erin Weiss and husband Michael, Forty-Fort and nine grandchildren, William, Jack, Patrick, Peter, Donovan, Maeve, Katherine, Michael, and Anna, and nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express gratitude for the care offered by Dr. Michalene Torbik and staff, Dr. Bruce Saidman and staff, and the wonderful nurses of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the funeral mass and services for Nora will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Care & Concern Pediatric Clinic, 37 William St., Pittston, PA 18640.
