Ann Marie Dessoye

November 24, 2020

Ann Marie Dessoye, fondly known as Nancy, 93, passed away on Tuesday evening, Nov. 24, 2020, at Wesley Village from complications due to Covid – 19.

Born Aug. 13, 1927 in Wilkes Barre, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Earley Morahan.  Nancy was a 1946 graduate of Pittston High School and a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Business School. A very religious person, Nancy was a member St Mary, Help of Christians Church in Pittston.

Raised in upper Pittston, some of Nancy’s fondest memories were working in her parents’ store, adventures with her sister, and all of the times spent with “The Club.”  Nancy also cherished the time she resided at Crossin Towers in Duryea, PA.  She was instrumental in planning cookouts, parties and dinners for her fellow residents. Nancy loved decorating and sharing her talents with others by making sure that all of the residents on her floor had a beautiful wreath or picture. Nancy, a true lady, was well known for her beauty and style.  Rarely would you see her without her earrings, beads, and heels. Later in life at Wesley Village, she always greeted her visitors with a smile and constantly remarked how lucky she was to live in such a beautiful place with delicious food.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Dessoye, Sr. in 1983, her sister Mary L. Grimes, brother Patrick Morahan, sister Elizabeth Ann Cooper, brother-in-law John F. Grimes and son-in-law J.R. Rutkowski.

Surviving to cherish her memory are sons and daughter-in-laws Joseph and Rosemary, James and Linda and daughter Judy Dessoye.  Also surviving are her five grandchildren and their families, Jennifer Haas, Jodi Boylan, Jillian Ivey, Joseph Dessoye and Jimmy Dessoye.  Grammie was the proud great grandmother to R.J. & Alex Haas, Madeline Boylan, Lauren & Jacob Ivey, Isabella & Jamieson Dessoye and J.D. and Luke Dessoye.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

On behalf of Nancy, the family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Mauer Biscotti and staff for their many years of dedicated service.  Also special thanks to the staff of Wesley Village over the last three years for their tender loving care.

A Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish,Pittston, will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Interment will be in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery Pittston.   The Paul F. Leonard Funeral Home, Pittston, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Meals on Wheels of Greater Pittston, 59 S.
